Boston Butt: Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

28 Oct

This easy recipe feeds a family for a week! Let a slow cooker do the work, to make pulled pork for sandwiches, tacos and quesadillas, or to put on top of salads.

the meat:
8 lbs pork shoulder butt

the sauce:

  • 2 cups white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp bbq sauce (such as Bulls Eye)
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 3-4 tsp Tabasco sauce
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin

the extras:
1 onion, chopped
a few cloves of garlic

Trim fat from pork and then sear on a pan.
Rub pork with salt, black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.
Put pork in slow cooker.(This 8 lb pork butt fit in my 6 quart slow cooker.)

Cover with sauce, and chopped onion and garlic.

Cook for 10.5 hours. Pull meat apart with a fork.
