The Bell in Hand Tavern

5 May

The Bell in Hand Tavern (45 Union St., Boston) claims to be America’s oldest tavern. I’m not sure if this is true, but it was established in 1795, making it pretty darn old. Pictured here is a bowl of clam chowder and a basket of eggplant fries which I ordered because I had never seen eggplant fries on a menu before. It might be a New England thing. The fries were interesting, but a little bitter. The marinara sauce helped somewhat, but I still prefer yam fries.
