Kobe Japanese Restaurant
Four of us strolled into Kobe Japanese Restaurant (11362 San Jose Blvd Ste, Jacksonville, FL), craving sushi for a weekday lunch. At $17, the all-you-can-eat sushi is a great deal! The fish is fresh, and the sushi platters are arranged with care. Unlike some other AYCE sushi restaurants, Kobe’s maki rolls are not overloaded with rice. The AYCE menu includes a great selection of maki rolls and sashimi, although hand rolls are not available. My favorite maki is the Moon Roll (pictured below, on the sides of the platter), which balances savory shrimp tempura with the sweetness of fried bananas.
The terrific sushi selection made up for the few appetizer choices on the AYCE menu. Although miso soup and seweed salad were present, I was a bit sad to see that gyoza and agedashi tofu were not.
The regular menu is fairly extensive, and my friends were excited to find several flavours of mochi for dessert. After 3 PM, beers are half price, making Kobe a wallet-friendly place to stop by for a snack.
